In Memory Of Kim Damti

The Book Screen digital platform honors the memory of Kim Damti, who was tragically murdered at the Nova Music Festival on October 7th, 2023 — the Black Saturday that deeply changed Israel and the Jewish people.

This tribute is part of the “Next October” initiative, led by Yizhar Shai, which calls upon Israeli startups to commemorate the heroes and victims of that devastating day.

Kim was a young woman full of light, curiosity, and dreams. She had recently completed her service in the IDF Navy and was planning to pursue her studies in Marine Biology at university. She was known as an excellent student, driven, thoughtful, and deeply connected to the world around her.

Beyond her academic ambitions, Kim had a deep love for stories and literature. She enjoyed writing and reading, and those close to her describe her as someone with imagination, sensitivity, and a warm heart. She worked at her family’s business in Gedera-Falafel Damti, where her welcoming smile and kindness were remembered by many.

On October 7th, Kim was murdered by Hamas terrorists at the Nova Festival while seeking shelter from the attack.

The mission of The Book Screen is to inspire children, teenagers and students to read English books and short stories through an innovative, interactive digital experience. We believe that books nurture imagination, empathy, creativity, and inner strength — qualities that Kim herself embodied.

By dedicating our platform to her memory, we seek to carry forward her love of stories, learning, and curiosity about the world. Through every child or student who reads, imagines, and grows with The Book Screen, Kim’s spirit continues to live on.
